About Us Kentisbeare Pre-School is in the heart of a small but active rural community near Cullompton, mid-Devon. We are the only pre-school within a three mile radius and many children from the surrounding villages and Cullompton and Willand enjoy their first educational experience with us. The majority of children who attend the Pre-School go on to full-time education at Kentisbeare Primary School and we are in close liaison with the school, benefiting from their advice, support and the generous use of their resources.
![]() Premises Our sessions are held in the modern and spacious Village Hall and presently have 10 to 16 children at any one session, however we are registered to take up to 24. We use the smaller Committee Room for the majority of sessions, with the Main Hall being used for more strenuous physical activities. We also have the use of a playground, which has been recently upgraded to provide paved, grasssed and planted areas together with exciting and stimulating play opportunities
. ![]() Staff Currently we employ three Pre School Leaders and four Pre School Assistants. We are fortunate to be assisted by a number of regular volunteers and we have a high level of parental involvement and day-to-day assistance.
Curriculum and Keyworker System When your child starts the pre-school a keyworker will be allocated, this person will work closely with your child, help record your child's progress and be available should you wish to discuss any aspect of your childs time at Pre-school or have any specific need. This however is not exclusive contact and all members of staff will of course be involved with your child and happy to talk at any time. This information is documented and displayed in their individual folder which is presented to you when you leave pre-school Healthy Eating Policy We encourage healthy eating at the Pre-school and as part of this policy the children have a mid morning fruit break. Each child brings a piece of fruit with them daily which is then cut and shared out. The children have an opportunity to try new tastes and textures, also enjoy the social aspect of eating and chatting together. The children are also encouraged to develop their physical skills, practicing balance, co-ordination, catching etc. ![]() |
